For over 40 years The Rheingold Band has been a household name for the greater Louisville area. What started as a casual get – together of three musicians in late 1962, grew to four-piece band by 1963 and eventually evolved into a group of five musicians by 1985.

One might ask about the secret of such endurance? Quite-simple – they all love music! But what’s more important, they like to have fun and share Gemuetlichkeit with their followers! Specializing in authentic German music the group provides polkas, marches, and bouncy waltzes for many parties, wedding, picnics, and German fests through the Midwest. However they have performed as far south as Atlanta Georgia, Greenville South Carolina, and Crossville Tennessee. In the tradition of their German heritage, The Rheingold’s wear lederhosen, short leather pants held up by suspenders. These costumes along with their upbeat tempo contribute to getting the crowd involved, both old and young.

Recently the group has produced their latest CD, titled German – American Classics! With a mixture of Polkas, waltzes, and marches as well as rhumbas, rheinlander, slow waltzes and a little bit of country! They will take you on a musical journey of happy tunes.
