Judy Garland, Liza Minelli ~ Peter Mac - Celebrity Look Alikes New York

Peter Mac was most recently seen as Judy Garland in the off-off Bway show “ Judy and Me”. Mac made his writing/directorial debut with the show under the alias Charles Tolliver. He based the show upon his adolescence coming of age in a homophobic suburb on Long Island. He was also recently seen as Judy Garland in a “Friend of Judy’s”, Peter Van Dam in “Anne Frank: A Voice Heard”. Before that he was baring it all in the Off-Broadway hit “Making Porn” as Ricky. A role he reprised in the national tour. Other Favorite roles include Matt in “The Fantasticks”, Schlomo in “Fame: The Musical”, Judas in “Godspell” and Joseph in “Had to Skip the Prom, So I Got My Nipples Pierced”. Peter has also been seen as the legendary Broadway entertainer, Gwen Verdon in his one-man show “Gwen Verdon and All Her Jazz” (Don’t Tell Mamas and Rose’s Turn). John Schaefer holds a doctorate in Computer mediated Learning, and uses this skill set working for one of the largest software product companies in the world. However, he is extremely right brained as well. An experienced emcee/master of ceremonies he served in this capacity at Club21 a nightclub and cabaret in Sacramento, CA. Additionally he revised and directed Capone’s Dinner & Show in Orlando, FL. This award winning production is now entering it’s 14th year. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as: Steve Allen; Jayne Meadows; Ginger Rogers; Burgess Meredith; and Jennifer Holiday. Cabaret Cares, the hit benefit series, continues in August with cabaret performer Peter Mac in his one-man show "Judy and Me." The show will be performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 W. 42nd St.) on August 30th at 7 PM.

"Cabaret Cares is the monthly cabaret benefit series produced by Joseph Macchia and Joseph John Productions. The series benefits two AIDS organizations in New York Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and Help Is On The Way Today. Broadway Cares is the nations leading industry AIDS grant making association. Help Is On the Way Today is a new non-for-profit organization founded by Joseph Macchia to assist children living with HIV and AIDS in the tri state area when government agencies fall short," state press notes.

"Judy and Me" is "a one man show performed and written by Peter Mac about his life growing up in a homophobic town on Long Island, also dealing with the domestic abuse at home and how is love for Judy Garland gets him through the rough spots. The show was produced in the summer of 2002 and performed at The Duplex downtown New York. In the fall the show was turned into a 6 person ninety minute one act play and was performed at Rose's Turn. The show was only to run for four nights but became an overnight hit and ran for two years to rave reviews. It earned a 2002 HX Award nomination for best gay play."
